Green Campus Initiatives
Nestled in the verdant landscapes of Thrissur, Kerala, Sree Narayana College, Nattika, embodies a profound commitment to environmental stewardship through its flagship "Green Essence" initiative. This institutional policy envisions a sustainable campus where eco-friendly practices permeate every facet of academic and daily life, fostering a culture of respect for nature among students and the broader community.
At the heart of Green Essence are clear objectives: preserving the sylvan surroundings, achieving self-sufficiency in power, safeguarding water sources, and instilling an eco-conscious ethos. The college actively disseminates awareness on environmental issues, measures and mitigates carbon footprints, and expands green cover through tree-planting drives and biodiversity conservation efforts.
Our dedication has earned prestigious recognition—a coveted A+ Grade certification from the Haritha Keralam Mission, Government of Kerala. This accolade honours exemplary protocols in waste management (via the innovative Thumboormuzhy Model), water security, energy efficiency, and biodiversity preservation, positioning the campus as a model green institution.
Key practices include regular green and energy audits, awareness programs led by the Nature Club and Bhoomitra Sena, rainwater harvesting, restricted plastic use, and strategic banners promoting sustainability. These efforts not only reduce harmful emissions but also empower students to lead in creating viable solutions for natural, social, and economic challenges.
